Ten questions on which of the four PACE modes is most missing in your dog's day.
Most owners who feel their dog is reactive, restless, or never quite settled are not dealing with a training problem. They're dealing with one mode of their dog's day that's missing or out of balance. This audit finds the one most likely to be missing in yours.
Ten questions. Three minutes. A clear read on what your dog is missing and why they feel on edge.
You'll get a personalised PDF report at the end with what to do this week.
I organise a dog's day into four modes. PLAY, ANCHOR, CALM, EXPLORE. Each has a clear expectation and a clear boundary. A balanced dog has time across all four in a typical week. When one is missing, behaviour problems start surfacing where the missing mode should be.
A dog who can't switch off when nothing is happening is usually missing CALM. A dog who ignores you on walks is usually missing PLAY or ANCHOR. A dog who looks obedient but feels flat is usually missing EXPLORE. A dog who reacts to everything is sitting at a high waterline, regardless of which mode is short.
The audit lands you on which one your dog is most likely missing, with a personalised PDF on what to try this week. If you want to go deeper, the essay on the four modes covers each one in detail.
I'm a Melbourne-based dog trainer with a degree in veterinary science, a Masters in Early Childhood Education, and fifteen years across zoo, wildlife, and private dog training. My assistance dog Murphy and I work with clients across Melbourne and online.
The four modes came out of that mix. It's the structure I use with every dog I work with.
